Road construction impacts this month near EvCC

You may experience delays due to road construction when traveling near EvCC the rest of May. Beginning May 8 the northbound SR 529 Snohomish River Bridge between north Everett and Marysville will be reduced to one lane, 24 hours a day, through May 28, with the exception of May 10-13, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT). Northbound I-5 will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. Friday, May 10 to 6 a.m. Monday, May 13 for construction from Pacific Avenue to the Snohomish River Bridge. The off-ramps to Pacific Avenue and Marine View Drive as well as the on-ramps from Everett Avenue and westbound U.S. 2 will be closed during these hours.

EvCC Foundation breakfast raises $105,000 to support student scholarships, college programs

The Everett Community College Foundation’s breakfast on April 16, 2024 raised $105,000 to support student scholarships and college programs.  More than 250 people attended the annual benefit.

Over 1,800 Students Attend EvCC’s 2024 Students of Color Career Conference

EVERETT, Wash. – More than 1,800 middle and high school students from western Washington learned about college and career options at Everett Community College’s Students of Color Career Conference on March 21. More than 300 volunteers made the event a success. Over 160 professionals shared about their college and career experiences, 33 EvCC students moderated panel discussions, 50 school representatives organized logistics to get their students to the conference, and over 70 volunteers directed students and served thousands of slices of pizza.

Tour EvCC’s Cascade Learning Resource Center during grand opening Sept. 28

Everett Community College will celebrate on Sept. 28 the grand opening of its newest building, the Cascade Learning Resource Center. The event, including a ribbon cutting ceremony and self-guided tours of the three-story building, is open to the public and starts at 3 p.m. at 1001 North Broadway.

Third-party data breach impacts EvCC community

According to national news media reports, many businesses and organizations worldwide have been impacted by a May 2023 cybersecurity incident related to a widely used file sharing application known as MOVEit Transfer. Everett Community College does not use the MOVEit software and none of our systems were impacted by the data breach. However, two third-party service providers notified EvCC that personally identifiable information from some students and employees may have been exposed. Sen. Murray visits Everett Community College to discuss Pell grant funding

Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) hosted a roundtable discussion with Pell Grant recipients, financial aid advisors, and leaders from Everett Community College (EvCC) and Washington State University (WSU) Everett to discuss the $500 increase to the maximum Pell Grant she secured in the end-of-year funding and her continued push to fix the broken student loan system and put a higher education into reach for everyone.

WSU Everett and EvCC launch Degree Partnership Program

A new collaboration between Washington State University Everett and Everett Community College makes pursuing a bachelor’s degree more accessible and equitable.  The Degree Partnership Program, the first of its kind in Washington state, enables students to attend classes concurrently at WSU Everett and EvCC, seamlessly transfer credits, combine credits for financial aid, and use facilities and services at both institutions.

EvCC launches Diversity, Equity and Social Justice academic track

Students at Everett Community College can now earn a university transfer degree focusing on the study of race, class, ethnicity, gender and sexuality and how these social classifications are linked to power, privilege and the allocation of resources and opportunities. The college launched a new academic track, an Associate in Arts and Sciences - Direct Transfer Agreement with an interest in Diversity, Equity and Social Justice (DESJ), this Fall. 

EvCC receives $2.25 million Federal Grant to support low-income students

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a competitive $2.25 million Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant to Everett Community College. The college will receive $450,000 per year for the next five years. EvCC’s goals for the funding will be to improve college affordability and increase students' access to resources, increase flexibility in how and when credit is earned, and develop practices and policies to ensure seamless transitions between pre-college and college-level academics and between learning and careers. 

Achieving the Dream names EvCC a national leader in student success

Achieving the Dream has named Everett Community College as a Leader College of Distinction for the second time, recognizing the college for sustained and significant outcomes in the advancement of student success and for narrowing equity gaps. EvCC is one of only 32 community and technical colleges nationwide to earn the honor. The college is one of two Leader Colleges of Distinction in Washington state. The other is Pierce College, the former home of EvCC’s incoming interim president, Darrell L. Cain. “I chose Everett Community College because students’ success is at the core of EvCC instruction, programs and services. I am excited to lead a college with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and equity,” Cain said. Achieving the Dream is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping more community college students, particularly low-income students and students of color, stay in school and earn a college certificate or degree. EvCC has partnered with Achieving the Dream since 2011. 

EvCC Adopts New Strategic Plan for 2022-27: Charting a Path Forward to Equity

Everett Community College's Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a new strategic plan for the college for 2022-2027. The plan, Charting a Path Forward to Equity, formally recognizes equity as the heart of EvCC's work. The strategic plan outlines how the college will hold itself accountable for ensuring student success and meeting the needs of our region. It includes four strategic priorities designed to fulfill the college’s institutional mission: Belonging, Student Ready, Sustainability, and Career-Connected. The plan was developed through a deliberate and inclusive planning effort to build on the foundation of the college’s past success with a lens toward a path forward to meet the rapidly changing needs of our students and their communities.
