Everett Community College is naming its basketball court in honor of retired athletic director Larry Walker at a celebration Oct. 20. The court dedication will occur following the EvCC women’s basketball game, which begins at 4 p.m. at the Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St. in Everett. After the dedication, the EvCC men’s basketball team will play. At both games, current players will face off against Trojan basketball alumni. The games are free and open to the public. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to recognize Larry for the countless hours of service and dedication to this college and generations of Trojan student-athletes. Naming this court inside of the beautiful facility that he helped build is the perfect way to honor Larry,” said EvCC Athletic Director Garet Studer, who succeeded Walker.

EVERETT, Wash. – Northwest Athletic Conference Director of Operations Garet Studer has been hired as Everett Community College’s new athletics director.

Northwest Athletic Conference Director of Operations Garet Studer has been hired as Everett Community College’s new athletics director.​​​​​​Studer replaces former athletic director Larry Walker, who retired in November. “Larry Walker has laid a tremendous foundation and I could not be more excited to serve as the athletic director at such a prestigious institution,” Studer said. “I’m impressed with the fact that there are high expectations for athletics here at EvCC. It shows passion, commitment and pride for athletics and demonstrates a true sense of value for this department on campus.”

Athletic Director Larry Walker to retire after 31 years at Everett Community College

Everett Community College Athletic Director Larry Walker will retire Nov. 15 after 31 years of working with EvCC athletes. “During his career at EvCC, Larry has had a positive impact on athletes, coaches, colleagues and the community. Dozens of players have come through the program and become teachers, coaches and mentors to youth. Former players have coached at the high school and college level,” said John Olson, EvCC Vice President of College Advancement, who has worked with Walker for 25 years. A community reception to honor Walker is at 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at EvCC’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St. Everyone who has worked with Walker at the college and in the community is invited to attend.
