Welding and Fabrication

Welding and Fabrication

Everett Community College’s Welding and Fabrication program provides comprehensive training in all major welding and cutting processes, including SMAW, GMAW, FCAW (self-shielded and gas-shielded), GTAW, Oxy-Acetylene Cutting (OAC), and Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC). Students gain hands-on experience welding mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, along with training in both hand and machine torch cutting and field welding techniques.

What sets EvCC’s program apart is its strong emphasis on fabrication. In addition to welding skills, students learn heavy plate and sheet metal fabrication, pipefitting and pipe systems, structural steel fabrication, and field techniques. The curriculum also includes in-depth coursework in Blueprint Reading, Layout, and Metallurgy.

Classes are available during both daytime and evening hours to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Career Opportunities

Welders are in demand across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and repair shops, shipyards, aerospace, and construction. They play a critical role in building and maintaining structures such as buildings, bridges, pipelines, power plants, and refineries. Welders also work in high-tech sectors using Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment for precision applications.

With additional training and experience, welders can advance to specialized roles such as supervisors, inspectors, and instructors, offering strong potential for career growth.

EvCC is also an accredited WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials) testing site, providing students with the opportunity to earn state-recognized welding certifications that enhance employability and professional credibility.
