High School Completion

EvCC's Transitional Studies division offers high school completion coursework that meets the minimum credit requirements for a diploma in Washington state. It is granted by Everett Community College and is recognized just the same as a diploma issued by any accredited (official) high school in Washington.

During your first appointment with a High School Completion Advisor, your transcripts are evaluated to see which classes you need to complete at EvCC to finish your diploma. If your skills are high enough, you may be able to take college level classes to meet some high school requirements! That means you could get started on a college degree while you finish high school!

Note: Everett Community College abides by the requirements set forth by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), the Department of Education, the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges and the Washington State Legislature.

The basic requirements for our program are:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Be able to provide official (sealed) transcripts from an accredited high school.
  • Have reading, writing, and verbal skills in English necessary to complete coursework.
  • If you are interested in completing your high school diploma with EvCC, you should consider downloading the following diploma program guide.https://www.everettcc.edu/files/global/icons/acroread.png

Each quarter you will meet with your advisor to discuss your progress and make plans for the next quarter.

The cost of a High School Completion diploma depends on your age and whether you are a resident of the State of Washington. If you are 16-18 years old and qualify as a resident of Washington State, you will pay the standard college tuition rate based on the number of credits you take. At the college, a 5-credit class equals a 0.5 (half) high school credit. For instance, if you needed 0.5 credits of traditional high school science, an EvCC Adult High School science class is 5 credits. So, one high school level class is going to cost you, on average, about $550. If you are 19 years or older, and a state resident, you might be eligible for reduced tuition rates. Ask about this when you meet with an advisor.

Tuition is just one part of the cost of attendance. Students are also responsible for college fees and the cost of textbooks. For information about tuition rates, visit the Everett Community College's Tuition Information page.
