Tell us a little about yourself
Originally from Everett, I’ve been in the criminal justice field for approximately 29 years. I’m married with two grown children. I like boating, golf and traveling.

Why did you choose EvCC?
Convenience. It was local and it had classes that I found interesting.

What did you study at EvCC?
Criminal Justice (Direct Transfer)

What are you doing now?
I’m the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Lynnwood.

Obtaining my AA ultimately led to a direct transfer to CWU, where I obtained my BA in Law and Justice. That led me to the University of Washington where I obtained my Masters in Public Administration. The education, experience and professional training were pivotal in preparing me for leadership positions in my organization.

Who helped you succeed at EvCC?
All my advisors and teachers.

Describe the best experience you had at EvCC.
I can’t give one specific example, but in general I had a very positive experience going to EvCC. It’s my local community college that I feel a tight connection with. It holds a special place in my heart.

Would you recommend the EvCC Criminal Justice program to others who are deciding where to attend college?
I do and have. I’m really pleased with the caliber of people coming out of there.

What advice do you have for new students?
Keep an open mind, push yourself to explore new possibilities.
