EVERETT, Wash. – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a competitive $2.25 million Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant to Everett Community College.

The college will receive $450,000 per year for the next five years. EvCC’s goals for the funding will be to improve college affordability and increase students' access to resources, increase flexibility in how and when credit is earned, and develop practices and policies to ensure seamless transitions between pre-college and college-level academics and between learning and careers.

“This grant aligns with EvCC’s priorities and will help positively influence our goal to close all transfer and completion opportunity gaps by 2027,” said Vice President of Instruction Cathy Leaker.

Specific initiatives supported by this funding include the development of a student resource center, creating resources to facilitate academic credit for prior learning, and establishing a career-connected and experiential learning center at the college.

EvCC adopted a new strategic plan, Charting a Path Forward to Equity: 2022-2027, in December of 2021. The plan’s strategic priorities focus on belonging, being student-ready, sustainability, and supporting career-connectedness.
