EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College's marketing and communications team won three awards at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 7 annual awards ceremony in November. The team won for each category entered.

The team won a silver in the TV/video paid advertisement series category for “Choose your Future, Choose EvCC,” a series of 30-second ads designed for social media featuring successful students and graduates telling their own stories. The videos were filmed and edited by digital marketing specialist Derek Walker with production assistance from public relations director Jenny Marin.

The team also won a silver for communications success story or crisis communication for “Seattle Times Education Lab: Are 2 instructors in a WA community college class better than 1?” The article by Ellen Dennis highlighted the benefits of Washington state’s I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training), which pairs adult basic education and English language instructors together with professional-technical instructors to help students develop a combination of skills. The story featured EvCC students and faculty members.

The team won bronze in the long-form promotional video category for “In the Community,” a 6-minute video about EvCC’s strong and lasting impact, featuring leaders from the city of Everett, port of Everett and Providence Regional Medical Center. Walker wrote, directed, filmed and edited the video.
