Nursing Assistant Certified
EvCC offers a one-quarter NAC program approved by the Washington State Department of Nursing. Space in the this class is limited and permission codes to register will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
Nursing Assistants work closely with patients, take vital signs, and help patients exercise, eat, dress, and bathe. They work under the supervision of a nurse and play a key role in keeping the nurse up-to-date on vital information about patients' conditions.
They are qualified for employment as entry-level caregivers in hospitals, long-term care agencies, clinics, physicians’ offices, urgent care settings, and clients’ homes.
Curriculum
Instruction covers the following areas: basic technical skills, mental health and social services needs of clients, clients' rights, promotion of clients' independence, communication and interpersonal skill development, safety and emergency procedures, rules and regulations that affect the Nursing Assistant's practice, personal care skills, basic restorative services, infection control, and HIV training. The entire program is completed in one academic quarter.

Program Immunizations and Background Check Requirements
Certain immunizations and a national background check are needed as part of admission for this program. Please review this immunization guide to see what immunization records you will need to provide.
This program uses a 3-party company, Complio, for storage of student records and to run their background checks. Students will need to create an account with them, which is good for a year and costs $15. The background checks start at $56 and can go up in cost if a student has lived in many areas. The instructor will give you the access code to run your background check the first week of the quarter.
All of the immunization requirements must be completed before a student will be given a permission code for registration. The only exception is the fall flu shot. Students do not need this to receive their class code, but they will need record of it in their Complio account before the first day of class or the instructor has the option of dropping them from the program.
One final admission step is the completion of the NAC student demographic form. Please use this link to complete it.
