Voices of EvCC - John Meyer

John Meyer John Meyer is the current EvCC Opportunity Grant Coordinator.  He has been with the college since September of 2006.  In his position, he administers a grant in which his primary responsibility is to provide direct services to students with numerous obstacles they must overcome in order to be successful in their studies.

John’s students know they have strong support in him, and that he will do what he can to help them navigate their way through what can often be seen as a confusing and difficult system by first-time students.  John finds inspiration in his students on a near-daily basis, and cares deeply about those he serves.

He recalled working with a homeless welding student who was living in a car with his wife and three children. Listen as he describes how that student and other students are able to break out of poverty through education (2.25). Audio Icon

John believes strongly in sustainability and puts his beliefs into action.  Come rain, shine, or occasionally, snow, he can be found arriving to work on his bicycle from his home several miles from the EvCC campus.

John was interviewed by Technology Services Fred Ehrlich on March 17, 2010. Listen to his entire story. Audio Icon
