Student Printing and Copying

Printing

Everett Community College students get a free credit of $21 per quarter per student* to cover both printing and copying, which equals 350 pages in black and white printing. Color printing is significantly more costly.

This printing credit shows up automatically (when you log in with your EvCC student account) as a popup window for Papercut. The credit lasts until the end of the quarter, as long as you are still enrolled. The credit is reset at the end of each quarter and does not carry over to the next quarter.

If you use up your quarterly credit you can buy additional printing credit at the Cashiers (in Parks 201). Papercut automatically keeps track of your printing credit and allows you to check your printing history.

*NOTE: Students $21 printing allowance, printers, paper, toner, and ink costs are all paid for by the Technology Services Department.

Students can print at multiple self-service printing stations located around campus. View the Mobile Printing page for more information.

Printing from Computer Labs

In order to enable all the available features on our multifunction devices (MFDs), PaperCut requires the use of a PIN, which wasn’t the case at all printers, especially within the labs. In order to provide a more consistent experience, and enable all MFD features, we have enabled PIN entry at all MFDs.

Where can I find my Printing PIN?

All students and employees can find their printing PIN in the MyEvCC Student Portal under “My Profile”.

Below are some of the new benefits coming later this year due to this change.

  1. “Mobility Print” - The most requested feature is the ability to enable students to print from their own devices, including their smartphones or tablets.  You will soon be able to do this and never use a computer in the lab to print documents.
  2. Increased printer availability / “Print Anywhere" - All prints are held within the universal printer queue until the printer PIN is entered. At that point, the printer loads all the pending print jobs for that user and allows them to release them on that device.
  3. Redundancy - As you will be able to login to any printer, no longer are you dependent on a single printer. Is the lab printer down? No problem, walk to the next nearest printer and release it there!
  4. Better security and privacy - As the user has to be at the device to release the print, it is less likely that a student would lose their print, or have it accidentally taken by another student. This is especially true for documents that contain possibility contain personally identifiable information (PII).
  5. Environmentally friendly - No more abandoned prints!  In our open lab, we collect  a stack of prints that get turned to scratch paper, as they are abandoned/forgotten at the printer. Reprinting or submitting duplicate print jobs wastes paper, toner, and other supplies.
  6. Fully enabling all device features - By utilizing a PIN, we can enable on-device features such as scanning, copying, and even some cases faxing! No longer are they limited to simply printing.

Copying

To make copies you will use your Student Printing PIN, not a copy card. Learn more about how to find and use your printing PIN with this step-by-step guide

If you have an old copy card with credit on it, just bring it to Technology Services/TechHUB in Shuksan Hall so we can credit it to your Papercut account.
