TEA Selection Criteria and Application

Selection Criteria:

  • Be committed to teaching and working with youth in a culturally/ethnically diverse setting
  • Demonstrate admissibility based on academic ability in the written language, mathematics, and reading comprehension, as demonstrated on an Everett Community College placement test or transcript from within the last five years indicating grades of "B" or higher in Writing, Mathematics, and Reading Comprehension
  • Demonstrate financial need and/or complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Be a high school graduate or have a satisfactorily completed the GED test
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student. Anyone with 20 or more credits must have transcripts attached to the application and meet with the TEA Program Director.
  • Submit completed application materials and official transcripts from all high schools and/or colleges attended
  • Provide references.
  • Overall: Assessment will be made of the quality of written materials, quality of a personal interview, motivation, backgrounds in perspectives on cultural/ethnic diversity, and expressed interest in teaching
  • If possible provide and/or demonstrates contributions to cross-cultural learning and understanding based on a belief in the value of racial, cultural, and ethnic differences
