Land Use, Natural Resource Management, and Sustainability: ENGL& 102 B - SU 2019
If you love adventure, want to explore Washington state, and learn about outdoor careers this experience may be the ENGL 102 class for you. On three field trips, (July 9th, 16th, and 23rd) students spend the days learning how Washington State manages our timber from the Department of Natural Resources. While students enjoy white water rafting, they learn how recreation is a key sustainer of the environment. While clearing trail for the US Forest Service, students experience the value of citizen service in taking care of our wilderness and public lands. These experiences will guide a multi-disciplinary research project, where students recommend how to improve sustainability in several places and make an artistic Nature Journal. This course has the option for a Service Learning credit. Participants should be physically able to hike 2 miles while carrying a loaded day pack. Hiking shoes are REQUIRED!
This class is a fun and beloved summer experience! Both locals and International students love this class. On our three field trip days (July 9th, 16th, and 23rd) you will be gone from 9 am – 9 pm. Regular class times are T/TH - 10:30 am – 1:20 pm, plan your schedule accordingly. These field trips are REQUIREMENTS of this course, but they are also a Blast! that you wouldn’t want to miss. Come join Cobi and learn from our beautiful Pacific Northwest environment.
