New Tenure Faculty Spotlight!

Tawny Townsend
Prior to coming to Everett Community College, Tawny worked at Whatcom Community College as the Director of Student Success and Retention. Tawny has an MA in Anthropology and an MEd in Student Affairs Administration from Western Washington University. She is currently working on an Educational Doctorate in Student Affairs Administration and Leadership at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Over the past three years at EvCC, Tawny has approached her work with a student-first then decide philosophy. No matter the circumstance, whether in the classroom, an advising session, or some other activity or project, Tawny finds a way to meet her students where they are and leads them to a quality advising and/or classroom learning experience. She certainly has become a valued member of our Entry Advising Center and as a College Success Instructor.
Renuka Prabhakar
Renuka was an Associate Instructor in Engineering for almost a year before receiving a tenure-track appointment. Prior to that, she held several teaching and administrative positions at UW.
Renuka earned a Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Washington. She also has extensive industry experience, founding and leading several firms, including auto mechanics, musical instruments and recycled building materials.
Renuka teaches a wide range of Engineering courses, including College Success in Engineering, Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Dynamics, Computer-Aided Design, Thermodynamics and Mechanics of Materials.
Lonnie Heinke
Lonnie arrived here after teaching computer programming courses for over 10 years at Tian Jin University in China. Prior to that, he taught programming for several years at California’s Cabrillo College. Lonnie holds a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science, Programming Languages and Theory from Cal State, Chico. Lonnie teaches our Intro to Computer Science and all of our C++ courses.
Anusha Venkatachalam
Anusha came to us from Pacific Lutheran University, where she held an Assistant Professor position. Prior to that, she was a Lecturer and Grad Student Mentor at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research and industry experience centered around the use of metal oxides in semiconductors such as transistors and LEDs. Anusha holds a Bachelors in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai, a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University, and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Anusha has been teaching College Success in Engineering, Introduction to Engineering, Design of Logic Circuits, Electrical Circuits and Applied Numerical Methods courses.
