To drop a class, sign in to MyEvCC portal. Enter your Student ID and password (6-digit birthdate), then select Winter 2021, enter the class item numbers into the table below and click the Add/Drop button.

Please note: Registration and refund deadlines may differ for classes which don't adhere to standard start and end dates, this is also true for self-support classes which have a separate fee structure. Other courses that may have different applicable deadlines include, online, correspondence, telecourse, some language and arts courses. Self-Support or non-tuition classes do not have refunds beyond the first five days of each quarter.

All drops must be by close of business on the deadline day. A refund, if due, is mailed to the student’s address on file or credited back to the credit card or agency. Refunds can take up to five weeks to process.

Refunds under $10 will only be processed with a written request from the student. For students receiving financial aid, refunds may also be calculated in accordance with state/federal rules. [Canceled] De-Stress Yoga: “New Year, New Me!”

January 13
7:00pm

Update: This event has been canceled

It’s a new year and a new quarter. 2020 wasn’t the best year, so let’s start off 2021 on better terms. Of course, with a new year comes a new quarter of school at EvCC. Whether you’re a current student starting new classes or you’re a new student  in a new environment, both can be really stressful and not give us the best start. Let’s join Sophia Dodd in a one hour online de-stress yoga class via zoom on Wednesday, January 13th at 7pm to 8pm to take a moment to relax the tension we hold. This event is suitable for anybody, including those who have never stepped foot into (or logged in online to) a yoga class. Yoga has been proven to help people relax their bodies and minds which provides more motivation to those who participate. The relaxing atmosphere will help us all feel ready to start this year and quarter off on positive terms.

For more information on this event, please contact Maggie LaBay, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, at mlabay@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at (425) 388-9508.

"Which Lives Matter" ft. Monte Washington
Feb. 4 | 3 - 4 p.m.
Register to Attend

In light of all the recent events in America, EvCC's Black Student Union, Diversity & Equity Center, and Student LIFE partnered to invite Monti Washington to come talk about Which Lives Matter. Monti Washington is an author, speaker, actor, playwright, and activist. As a Leadership and Diversity speaker he has spoken to thousands of students on campuses nationwide, promoting the importance of diversity and inclusion. Monti grew up in deplorable conditions, raised on the streets in poverty; suffering abuse in multiple foster homes; and struggling with depression. Motivated by his personal experiences with racism, classism, and prejudice, Monti has passionately devoted his life to spreading a message of hope through inclusion, understanding, and acceptance.

Everyone knows that all lives matter, but the question is do they matter equally? “WHICH LIVES MATTER” is an intense, inclusive, educational event, intended to build bridges, not walls. Speaker, poet, and activist Monti Washington helps us explore the history, conditioning, stereotypes, and racism that separates and divides our community and nation. He addresses the issues from a social media and social justice perspective. With spoken word poetry, personal stories, and social media examples, you will learn how you can make a difference on your campus and in your community. By the conclusion of this event, you will see that your voices matter, your opinions matter, and most importantly, that “ALL YOUR LIVES MATTER”. Register today and you’ll receive a Zoom link 2 hours before the event.

For more information on this event, please contact Rozlynn Edwards at redwards@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu.

De-Stress Yoga: “Virtual Date Night!”

February 12
7:00pm

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate love, but being about halfway through the quarter puts a lot of stress on ourselves. This event will give us the opportunity to invite someone we love, whether it be a significant other, best friend, or family member, to virtually de-stress together with some yoga instructed by Sophia Dodd on Friday, February 12th at 7pm to 8pm. The uncertainty some people feel with COVID-19 can add to their stress as well, especially with being unable to see the people they love. We want to change that by providing this event and space to celebrate being together with the people we love virtually and taking the time to release stress from our bodies and minds. This event is perfect for any level of skill, even if you have never done yoga before. Yoga is shown to make people feel happier, increase concentration, and gives people peace of mind. These are all beneficial to help us get through the rest of the quarter with a positive mindset.

For more information on this event, please contact Maggie LaBay, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, at mlabay@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at (425) 388-9508.

Donation Drive February 16 - March 8

What We Need:

  • Diapers (all sizes)
  • Baby wipes
  • Baby formula
  • Dog food
  • Cat food
  • Cat litter

How to Donate:

Schedule an Appointment  to Drop-Off Donations on Campus

Or

Donate Remotely 1 of 3 Ways:

  1. Shop our "Amazon Wish List
  2. Make a Monetary Donation through EvCC's Foundation, Note: Food Pantry
  3. Ship Your Donations:

Dear Sisters, Don't let anyone silence the story inside of you! Sincerely, Dr. J

March 3
4:00pm

In honor of International Women’s Day (and month!) we have invited Dr. Julia Garcia to talk about female empowerment and leadership. Dr. Julia Garcia, or Dr. J, has a powerful speaking style, edgy performance poetry, small n’ mighty tech start up, and doctoral research that has impacted over half a million lives within the 12 years she has been speaking to audiences. She creates safe spaces for sharing meaningful stories and beautiful diversity. She gives students the opportunity to feel seen, heard and be truly connected.

Using social impact as a mighty pen to rewrite stories by identifying obstacles standing in the way of achieving your personal, academic, and professional goals. As the creator of a digital tool sparking courageous conversations around race and inequity online, everyone can receive the opportunity to rise up, join together and continue to build their community piece by piece. Her emotional support network provides people a chance to remember that we are better together and united. She is a published author whose spoken word videos have garnered over 60,000+ views and her diverse background makes her one of the most critical and relevant voices of our generation. Dr. J isn’t 2-D, choosing to focus on women's leadership but also other aspects that affect women everyday. Including diversity, inclusion/exclusion, technology, and the prevalent social and emotional health. She works on helping women in both professional and cultural development so that women can succeed individually and together.

We encourage anyone who wants to support female empowerment and celebrate International Women’s Day to join us on March 3rd, 2021 at 4pm. Dr. J strives to create a positive, empowering, and safe space to learn about female empowerment and will give us tools to support women in the future. Dr. J reminds us, no-matter the social distance we don’t ever have to stay silent.

De-Stress Yoga: “Namaste Calm!”

March 15
7:00pm

As we come near to the end of the quarter we see finals approaching. The thought of finals is enough to make someone begin to stress themselves out. Finals make it difficult to keep our bodies and minds in a calm state, but we can use the practice and techniques of yoga instructed by Sophia Dodd to help with that. Join us the night before finals start to prepare your body and mind for the final week of the quarter. Feeling relaxed from doing yoga can help you concentrate and make you feel more motivated to do well on your final exams and projects. There’s no need to have any previous yoga experience, just bring yourself and have a small space to move around in on Monday, March 15th at 7pm to 8pm. Let’s make this final week (and final yoga class of this quarter) count and release all the negative energy that may be held inside and embrace the positive energy that will be spread in the atmosphere of this event.

For more information on this event, please contact Maggie LaBay, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, at mlabay@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at (425) 388-9508.

Yoga De-Stress Series

March 15
7:00pm

Let’s de-stress with some yoga this quarter! Back by popular demand, EvCC’s Trojan Activities Board is bringing you a series of FREE Yoga Sessions! These classes are good for all levels of experience. You can sign-up for one or all of the following:

De-Stress Yoga: “New Year, New Me-ow!”
Wednesday, Jan. 13 @ 7-8pm

De-Stress Yoga: “Virtual Date Night!”
Friday, Feb. 12 @ 7-8pm

Shot of Reality

April 17
4:00pm
to
5:00pm

How much do you know about alcohol?

April is marked as National Alcohol Awareness Month, which began as an annual educational campaign by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. On April 17th at 4pm we are hosting the educational, but entertaining and comedic, program “A Shot of Reality.” This program is seen to be the number one alcohol awareness program in the country! It is presented by two professional comedians, Patrick and Jillian, who have a realistic, interactive discussion
about the destructive and deadly consequences of alcohol abuse, assault, DUIs, health issues, and more.

This program, best known for its combination of comedy and interactivity as its foundation for building education and knowledge about a serious topic, has been successful in performing for the US NAVY/ARMY and hundreds of colleges. “A Shot of Reality” was created by health professionals, local police, and members of various alcohol rehab programs to bring on a fresh take on a popular topic. The program’s learning objectives include ways to stay safe while drinking, how alcohol works in your body, social media, alcohol abuse, drunk driving, and assault. “A Shot of Reality” uses its virtual set up to its advantage by utilizing live polls to interact with the audience in real time.
Patrick and Jillian’s goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment to talk about this topic by making it clear this program is not a lecture, it’s not a powerpoint, that they’re not going to show us scary photos, they’re not cops, and they’re not our parents!

This program is more like a house party and they’re here to educate us to make sure we get home safely. The number one rule at this party is that you don’t have to drink. If you do decide to take that route, take “a shot” with us and learn about how to drink safely.

Infinite Flow Dance

April 29
4:15pm

Join us on April 29th, 2021 at 4pm to celebrate International Dance Day with Infinite Flow Dance. Infinite Flow is an award-winning Los Angeles based non profit and professional dance company composed of dancers with and without disabilities. Their mission is to promote inclusion and encourage people to learn something new about themselves and the world around them. Infinite Flow was established in 2015 by Marisa Hamamoto (She/Her), a professional dancer and stroke survivor, who will be one of the six featured dancers at this event. Since 2015 Infinite Flow has performed over 100 times for school assemblies and corporate events for companies such as Apple, Facebook, and Red Bull. Dance videos of Infinite Flow have been viewed by over 75 million people on Facebook alone, and they have been featured on NBC Today, ABC Good Morning America, and among other media outlets.

Joining Marisa, the five other dancers that will be featured at this event includes Tatiana Lee (She/Her), an actress, model and lifestyle influencer born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly; Mia Schaikewitz (She/Her), who is paralyzed from the waist down because an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) ruptured in her spinal cord at age 15; Shaheem Sanchez (He/Her), a self-taught dancer who went deaf at the age of 4 and is also the lead instructor for Infinite Flow Kids; Dmitriy “Kima” Kim (He/Him), is a dancer from Russia who moved to the U.S. in 2016 to avoid persecution for his sexual orientation, Kima lost his leg in an accident in early 2017, but that did not stop him from dancing; and Natalie Trevonne (She/Her), who was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, which caused her to lose her vision at the age of 18, but she refuses to let her blindness define her and encourages everyone to go after their dreams.

Infinite Flow wants to take diversity, equity, and inclusion out of the head and into your hearts, bodies, and souls. This dance group aims to uplift unheard voices and share authentic stories of historically underrepresented people at the intersection of Disability x Creativity x Unique Identities while motivating and inspiring individuals and organizations to be the change and take action. They also want to promote health and wellness while studying and working remotely, as well as create unity and inclusion through technology, dance, and dialogue. One other way Infinite flow has reached these goals besides their virtual events, is through a short film they launched in October 2020 called Scoops of Inclusion. This has been used as an online learning platform empowering kids to celebrate diversity and take part in creating an inclusive world.

8:30pm

We are giving EVERYONE a chance to find time and space to put themselves first and relax their minds and bodies.

On Tuesday, June 8th,  2021 @7:30pm-8:30pm, the Trojan Activities Board is hosting yoga instructor Sophia Dodd to lead a de-stress yoga class in honor of finals starting soon, along with other stressors that could be going on in people's lives.

Do you want to begin developing a daily routine of breathing and yoga practice?
Maybe a reminder on how to do some stretching positions?

This class is inclusive and fitting for any skill level. So, whether you go to yoga weekly or you don’t even own a yoga mat, this class is perfect for you! Research has shown that yoga helps you relax and fall asleep at night, which we all know is very important for our mental health. A poor amount of sleep can make it really difficult to deal with minor stress. Yoga is also known to make people feel increased mental and physical energy, a boost in enthusiasm, and fewer negative thoughts. According to the National Institutes of Health, there is scientific evidence that yoga supports stress management, mental health, and mindfulness. Join us virtually to take some time to de-stress your mind and body. Remember, taking care of yourself is productive.

Snag the opportunity with EvCC’s free yoga class and learn some moves you could incorporate!

RSVP Today!

For more information on this event, please contact Maggie LaBay, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, at mlabay@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu.
If you are a person with a disability and need an accommodation in connection with this event, contact the Center for Disability Services at least 5 days in advance at 425-388-9272 or cds@everettcc.edu.

Flu Shot Clinic

October 6
10:00am
to
12:00pm

Flu season is quickly approaching and it is once again time to fight the flu with a flu shot from Rite Aid. Protecting yourself from the flu also protects the people around you who are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, such as the elderly or infants. This year may feel different than other years as we are dealing with COVID-19 and Flu vaccination simultaneously. You may have questions regarding the safety of receiving both the COVID -19 vaccine and the Influenza vaccine or if a waiting period is necessary between vaccinations. The CDC recommends vaccinating customers with most immunizations at the same time as other immunizations. For more information visit the CDC website view “Interim Clinical Considerations”

The Rite Aid Flu Vaccination Clinic is for students, staff or faculty to receive their flu shot in a convenient location while at work or school. You are encouraged to sign-up in advance with the Rite Aid Vaccine scheduler, however, drop-in appointments are available as well.

Sign-up for your appointment here & Enter the zip code: 98201. Once you have accessed the scheduler, please choose an appointment time for Oct. 6. You can also print consent forms here if under age 18 if needed as well.

If you have health insurance, please bring your health insurance card to the clinic and the flu shot will be billed to your insurance typically at no cost to you. If you are a student who does not have health insurance, bring your current EvCC student ID card to the clinic as well as $10.00 in cash towards your flu shot.

If you are interested in getting your flu shot this year, we hope this is a convenient option for you. Please remember to sign-up with the Rite Aid Vaccination scheduler or drop by and see a Rite Aid technician in Jackson 106 on Wednesday, October 6 between 10am-12pm.

For more information on this event, please contact Shafiyya AlQudsi, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, at salqudsi@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu or (425) 388-9508.

Writing Prompt: Write a dialogue in which each of the two characters has a secret. Do not reveal the secret but make the reader intuit it. For example, the dialogue might be between a husband, who has just lost his job and hasn’t worked up the courage to tell his wife, and his wife, who has a lover in the bedroom. Purpose: to give two characters individual ways of speaking, and to make dialogue crackle with feelings not directly expressed. Remember that in dialogue, as a general rule, every pause must somehow be shown, either by narration (for example, “she paused”) or by some gesture or other break that shows the pause. And remember that gesture is a part of all real dialogue. Sometimes, for instance, we look away instead of answering. (From The Art of Fiction by John Gardner)

As always, you can ignore, adapt, or steal from this prompt as you see fit! Feel free to use it to generate new material, or to work on characters from a story you have already begun.

Looking to strengthen your writing? The Writing Club is a place for serious writers to convene for encouragement and critique. Writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry are welcome. Writers meet bi-weekly to write and to promote awareness, understanding, and discussion of the various literary genres. Writing Prompt
As an exercise in setting, select something that you’ve written that begins with character and rewrite it, this time leading with three full lines describing anything other than the character, before introducing the characters. Start out wide, and line by line, bring your focus closer toward the characters.

Members are also involved in a variety of campus activities related to the literary arts.
