What is Canvas?

Canvas is an online tool that EvCC uses to support online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses.  Faculty may use Canvas to post course content, such as a syllabus, course documents, links to articles, grades, or to hold online discussions, have students turn in homework or deliver online exams.

What do I need to use Canvas?

You can use a PC or Mac to successfully connect to Canvas.  View the web browser requirements.

Canvas Login

Logging in to Canvas requires you to use your nine-digit student or employee ID number and your PIN. The default student PIN is your six-digit date of birth (in MMDDYY format).

Note: Beginning on December 12, 2016, new students will need to use an eight-digit PIN. If you are a new student, your default PIN will be your six-digit date of birth (in MMDDYY format) followed by two additional zeroes. For example, if you were born on June 1, 1996, your PIN would be 06019600.

If you are using the Canvas mobile app, you may be prompted for an email address and password. Enter your Student ID and your PIN in place of an email address and password.

If you are having difficulties logging in, click on "Don't know your pin" and enter the email address that is associated with your EvCC registration. This may be a personal Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo!, or other account. You will receive an email with a link to reset your Canvas password. If you are not receiving the link, you may need to double check the email address that you had it sent to.
