Student Story-Lucia Alonso

Lucia Alonso

During Lucia’s cosmetology training she was able to maintain an excellent grade point average and had near perfect attendance. Lucia was focused and could stay on task, so she took advantage of an internship opportunity at Lorinda’s Salon & Spa. Lucia was able to complete 10% of her cosmetology school while working on live models and receiving advanced training.

Lucia said, she would recommend that all students entering into the EvCC cosmetology program take advantage of the internship opportunity. The internship helped build her confidence in haircutting, haircoloring and customer service skills. Lucia graduated from Everett Community College Cosmetology program in January 2004 and was employed at Lorinda’s Salon & Spa. She loved working at Lorinda’s especially because of the advanced education that the salon provided. Lucia was able to go to New York City for a week of free education with Bumble & Bumble to learn the latest trends in the hair industry. Lucia left Lorinda’s Salon & Spa in October 2007 to start a family.

She is currently working at Sophisticut Hair Salon in Marysville where she is close to home. She provides all of the salon services to her customers
