About the CDS Office
Our Mission
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) office at Everett Community College provides a variety of accommodations for students with disabilities and academic barriers.
Everett Community College is committed to providing an equal opportunity for students with disabilities. Students may be eligible for accommodations if they have a physical, mental, psychological, or sensory barrier that limits one or more major life activities.
Students should fill out a New Student Accommodation Application form and provide information about their disability to the CDS Office. After submitting the application, we will schedule an in-person or virtual (via Zoom) intake meeting appointment. During the meeting, the CDS access staff engages the student in an interactive dialogue to determine which, if any, accommodations are reasonable and appropriate while taking classes at EvCC.
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) reviews all student disability-related requests. It determines accommodations for students with documented disabilities or conditions that impact a "major life activity" to qualify for disability-related services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
By providing reasonable accommodations based on an individual's need for services, the CDS assists students in pursuing their goals at Everett Community College. Many of these accommodations are to assist students with their academic programs. The CDS also works with other EvCC departments and Student Services to ensure that all programs offered on campus are accessible to students with disabilities.
