1. Scheduling Your Classes

Meet with Your Advisor

Meet with your assigned advisor to discuss what classes you should take next quarter about four to six week before the next quarter begins.

Things to keep in mind when scheduling classes:

  • Try not to schedule classes back-to-back if you are planning on using Exam Accommodations. You don't want to miss your second class while using extra time on a test in your first class.
  • Leave a break between classes if you have difficulty concentrating. This will give you time to regain focus or recopy notes from what you just learned, which will help you retain the information better.
  • Leaving a break between classes is also a good idea if you need time to get to class. By scheduling yourself time to stop and rest, you will be better prepared for your next class.
  • Pay attention to your course load. Will you be overloaded with credits? If so, work with your advisor to arrange a schedule that you will be able to handle.

Register for Classes

Register for your classes in MyEvCC. Priority Registration dates can be found on the CDS Calendar.  If your registration date does not match the priority registration date, let the CDS Office know so we can get it updated ahead of time. If this is your first quarter at EvCC, you do not have priority registration yet, but you will for future quarters.

2. Request Accommodations

Request your accommodation services by the due date found on the CDS Calendar to avoid any delays.

3. Before Classes Start

There are a few tasks that take place between the time that you submit your request for accommodation services and the first day of the quarter.

Additional Accommodation Steps To Complete

If applicable to you, complete the additional accommodation steps for these accommodations:

  • Alternative Format Textbooks
  • ASL Interpreters & CART Services

Your Faculty Notification Letters

The Faculty Notification Letters contain information about your accommodations and are emailed to your student email and to your instructor one week before classes begin.

4. First Week of Classes

The first week of classes is an important time to get accommodations situated for the rest of the quarter.

Connect with Your Instructors

After your letters have been sent out, you need to follow up with your instructors.  This should be done either through email, Canvas mail, or during your instructor’s office hours, to ensure confidentiality.

If you’re not sure how to talk to your instructor, you can read our Guide to Communicating with your instructors.
