Environment and Diversity: Celebrating Earth Day with Dr. Carolyn Finney
We are thrilled to announce Dr. Carolyn Finney will join us in April to celebrate Earth Day!

Dr. Finney, the renowned author of “Black Faces, White Spaces,” brings to the forefront the often-unheard voices and experiences of African-Americans in environmental spaces. Her work illuminates the importance of diversity in environmental narratives and policies, making her an exemplary figure to join our series.

Everett Empowered events are free and open to the public.

Neurodivergent Student Support is a club created by and for neurodivergent (ND) students at EvCC, as well as for our neurotypical (NT) allies who want to support us and learn more about neurodiversity. We have educational meetings for ND and NT members, as well as ND only meetings to provide a safe space to learn and socialize with other ND folks.

Succulent Success

Hello Trojans,

We hope you had a relaxing and wonderful spring break. In recognition of Earth Week,we invite you to come and plant your own little succulent in a cute pot for FREE. We offer a variety of succulents and pots for you to choose from. Once you've made your selections, you can transplant the succulent from its nursery pot into the pot of your choice. Succulents require little to no maintenance, just water once per week. The station will be at the Index Lawn (in the Gray Wolf courtyard in case of inclement weather) from 12 pm to 2 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Join us to make your own little succulent pot for Earth Week and have some fun.

Relationships, Red Flags, & Risk Reduction Workshop w/ Marissa Cohen

Nationwide, over 81% of women and 43% of men have reported experiencing some form of sexual assault or sexual harassment in their lifetime. April, sexual assault awareness month (SAAM), is a time for advocates, survivors, loved ones of survivors, and members of the community to come together to provide and receive support.

In honor of this, the Trojan Activities Board invites you to a “Relationships, Red Flags, and Risk Reduction” workshop with Marissa F. Cohen. The workshop will cover healthy vs unhealthy relationships, red flags to look for in those relationships, and ways to avoid abusers and narcissists. Information will be provided in regards to safety planning and resources that are available.

Infused with group discussions, games, and media, this workshop will provide a comfortable environment to learn and find support. Join us in Jackson 101 from 2:30 to 3:45 pm, on Tuesday, April 30th. There will be a Q&A session hosted by Marissa at the end of the workshop.

Holy Horticultural Hyperbole, Plantman! The Plant Swap Returns April 25, 10-2.

You have a thing for free stuff, I hear. Luckily, you can grab up a load of plant stuff and all it will cost you is a smile!  It’s Plant Swap time, where we bring in great green gobs of growth to the Whitehorse Crit Space and you come and take it off our hands. All you need to do is have something to put your treasures in as you cart them away.

Right now is your opportunity to help out with donations of green things for the Swap. Think of any plants, seeds, bulbs, or implements of destruction you might want to donate for the swap and wander them over to drop off inside the Maintenance Office from 7-4 Monday-Thursday before the swap, and we’ll add them to the inventory. We’ve got people (like the incredible Dennis & Jill Ryan, the EvCC Grounds crew and WSU Horticulture group) that have already donated and potted up a ton of stuff for you. They can take your donations and get them sorted and appropriately potted.

So come on down and help the cause with some of your donations. More times and details are to be revealed as soon as we make them up, so send questions to sustainability@everettcc.edu and get your calendar marked in green for Plant Swap on April 25.

Open to all EvCC students, The Associated Student Body (ASB) Senate Meetings are held in Gray Wolf Hall, Room 160 and virtually from 2:30-4:30pm. The ASB Senate meets to discuss student issues and concerns at both the college and state level, as well as conduct business which includes the student budget proposals, reports on the college and Senate committee work, and provide feedback to the College Administration. Come provide input, share concerns, and gain valuable leadership skills, while enhancing your resume, college and scholarship applications.

If you would like to become an ASB Student Senator, you must meet the minimum requirements & complete the "self-elect" process:

  • Currently enrolled EvCC student
  • Maintain a minimum of five credits
  • Maintain a quarterly/cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
  • Complete the ASB Student Senate "self elect" process.

Deadline for 50% refund for Spring classes

The deadline for 50% refund for Spring 2024 classes is 11:59 p.m. Saturday, April 20.

To drop a class, log into ctcLink and follow these directions.

Please note: Registration and refund deadliens may differ for classes that don't adhere to standard start and end dates and for self-support classes that have a separate fee structure. Other courses that may have different deadlines include online, correspondance, telecourse, and some language and arts classes. Self-support or non-tuition classes do not have refunds beyond the first five days of the quarter. 

A refund, if due, is mailed to the student's address on file or credited back to the credit card or agency. Refunds can take up to five weeks to process. 

Refunds under $10 will only be processed with a written request from the student. For students receiving financial aid, refunds may also be calculated in accordance with state/federal rules. These formulas are published in the Financial Aid procedures manual. Dropping classes during the quarter may trigger a request for repayment of financial aid money.

Leave Your Legacy - Parks Student Union EvCC Community Art Submission Deadline

The EvCC ASB Government is calling for submissions of community art to display in the Parks Student Union building. This project has a total budget of $15,000 and pieces will be selected to fit within this budget. 

The Prompt Is: "The Identity of EvCC". 

Submissions should reflect the values, identity, and culture of EvCC and the Everett community, as outlined in EvCC's Strategic Plan.

Who Can Submit Art: Everett Community College students, staff, faculty, or alumni. With priority given to current EvCC students.

Submission Deadline:  Sunday, April 21, 2024.

  • Compensation is based on the price for each piece of art the artist sets.
     
  • All forms and sizes of media aside from video will be considered. This includes photography, paintings, sculptures, or mixed media submissions. 
     
  • All artwork must be original to the creator and/or credited as required by law according to the works license. See EvCC's Copyright & Intellectual policy.  
     
  • If your artwork includes the likeness of someone a signed "Permission for Use and Publication of Videotaping, Photographs and Drawings" must be obtained for each individual represented if selected.
     
  • Artists can submit multiple pieces, but each art piece should be a separate submission.
     
  • Artist must be able to prepare art for installation. 
     
  • Artist must include an statement that reflects the prompt. 
     
  • Notification of selection: May 10 - May 31.

Trojan Baseball hosts Bellevue College

The Trojan Baseball Team will host Bellevue College on Sunday, April 21st. The first game of the league double-headerwith the Bulldogs will start at 1:00pm, with the second game to follow about 30 minutes after the first game ends. Both games will be played at Everett Memorial Stadium on Funko Field - 3802 Broadway. Entrance through the North side parking lot only.
